Hydrogen and human health and biology
Hydrogen is the atomic element that forms organic molecules and transmits chemical energy by vibration, tunneling and resonance. It is also an important part of water and fossil fuels.
Molecular hydrogen can reduce oxidative stress and improve cellular function by suppressing pro -inflammatory cytokines and regulating antioxidant genes. It has recently received attention as a possible treatment for metabolic syndrome, which is associated with redoxy dysfly and chronic inflammation.
Regular hydrogen vs. Heavily hydrogen: How do they affect our body?
Updated with information on ATP syntheses and Deuterium:
Imagine hydrogen, an element we all know from water (H2O). But did you know that there are two types of hydrogen? Common hydrogen, as in water, and heavily hydrogen, called deuterium. They look alike, but have an important difference: weight.
Deuterium is like a heavier version of hydrogen. It can take the place of regular hydrogen in chemical compounds and reactions in our body. The problem is that deuterium slows down these reactions and interferes with the shape of the molecules.
How does Deuterium affect ATP syntures?
ATP syntheses are small engines that spin inside the mitochondria, the body's power plant. They rotate at an incredible speed of 6000-9000 revolutions per minute to produce energy in the form of ATP, an energy storage molecule that drives all cells in the body.
To function effectively, ATP syntheses need electrons to attract protons (hydrogen ions). These protons are then used to make adenosinrifosphate (ATP). But if the ATP synthas have too much deuterium, the process slowed down. Deuterium is heavier and moves slower than regular hydrogen, interfering with the exact timing and precision needed for ATP synthesis.
Consequences of Deuterium Disorder of ATP syntheses:
- Reduced energy production: When ATP syntheses do not work optimally, smaller ATP is produced. This can lead to reduced energy in the cells, which can have a variety of negative effects on body function.
- Cell function disorders: ATP is crucial for a variety of important cell functions, including signal transmission, muscle contraction and protein biosynthesis. Reduced ATP production can interfere with these functions and lead to various health problems.
- Chronic diseases: Lower ATP levels have been linked to a variety of chronic diseases, including heart disease, diabetes and cancer.
What can we do?
Although we cannot completely avoid deuterium, there are things we can do to reduce exposure and protect the ATP syntase function:
- Drink clean water: Water with low deuterium content is available.
- Eat organic foods with good natural fat: Organic foods generally have lower deuterium levels than conventional foods.
- Limit the intake of processed food: processed foods often have higher deuterium levels.
- Reduce stress: Stress can increase the body's deuterium production.
- Physical activity: Regular exercise can improve ATP syntase activity.
In addition to slowing oxidative reactions, deuterium can increase the resistance to a connection to the breakdown of oxidative radicals. This is especially important for nutrients that are exposed to the breakdown of reactive oxygen species. An example is linoleic acid, one of the most common polyunsaturated fatty acids in the diet. Linoleic acid is highly prone to lipid peroxidation because it has a labile position where hydrogenabstraction can trigger a self -intended chain reaction.
Another example of the effect of deuterium reduction is a study that showed that lowering the concentration of deuterium in a cultural medium increased survival rate for neurons under glucose deficiency. The results show that the lowered deuterium content increased the stability of the cellular membrane, so that it could withstand oxidative stress more effectively.
Deuterium reduction is an approach that has aroused interest in cancer research. Here are some ways it can help counteract cancer:
- Reduced cell proliferation: Cancer cells often have an increased ability to divide quickly. Deuterium reduction can potentially slow this process by affecting cell growth and cell division.
- Improved mitochondrial function: Mitochondria are the cell's power plant, and they play an important role in energy production. Deuterium reduction can help improve the mitochondrial function, which can be beneficial for fighting cancer.
- Reduced oxidative stress: Cancer cells are often subjected to high oxidative stress, which can cause DNA damage and mutations. Deuterium reduction can help reduce this stress and protect the cells.
- Strengthened immune response: A strong immune system is crucial to fighting cancer. Deuterium reduction can potentially improve the immune response and help the body identify and eliminate cancer cells.
Inhalation of hydrogen
Hydrogen is important for our bodies because it acts as a catalyst to create energy from the food we consume in the form of adenosin-5 'trifosphate or ATP. This energy is then used to move and control the body's cells, organs and tissues. Hydrogen is also a potent antioxidant that actively removes oxygen from the body and protects against many different diseases and conditions, including heart disease, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), Alzheimer's disease, depression, cancer and even exercise -induced oxidative stress.
Why can hydrogen be good for our body?
Our body is full of small "power plants" called mitochondria. These power plants produce energy, but they can also make harmful substances called reactive oxygen species. Fortunately, hydrogen can help!
What can hydrogen do?
- Removing toxins: Hydrogen can sneak into our cells and mitochondria and remove these harmful substances.
- Cut inflammation: Inflammation is involved in many diseases. Hydrogen can help to calm down inflammation of the body.
- Strengthen the defense of the cells: Hydrogen can increase the amount of antioxidants in our cells. Antioxidants help protect the cells from damage.
- Improve the immune system: Hydrogen can help our immune system function better and protect ourselves from disease.
Because most diseases are associated with an imbalance of praise (which often causes low cell voltage), hydrogen has the potential to act as a therapeutic treatment for various disorders involving dys regulation of ROS levels. Studies have shown that hydrogen has beneficial effects in a wide range of medicinal conditions, such as ischemic heart disease, stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, asthma, COPD and oxidative stress in neo -Dialysis patients. It can also improve exercise performance, improve skin health, relieve neuropathic pain after spinal cord injury and slow down the aging process.
Inhalation of hydrogen can help your lungs!
- Reduces oxidative stress (damage to the lungs from free radicals).
- Promotes regeneration (new lung cells are growing).
- Prevents fibrosis (scar tissue in the lungs).
- Dampen chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
How?
Hydrogen activates a signal in the cells that protect them from oxidative stress.
Molecular hydrogen gas can easily be inhaled by a portable unit, making it an effective therapy for various diseases associated with oxidative stress and inflammatory responses. It has proven to be more effective than other oxidation -reducing therapies such as polyphenols and vitamin C in increasing cellular redox status, resulting in protection against oxidative stress and inflammation. Furthermore, inhalation of hydrogen can prevent the formation of nitrosamines and other carcinogenic compounds by inhibiting glyoxal metabolism. This suggests that molecular hydrogen may be a promising candidate for the prevention of cancer and other diseases. However, further clinical research is necessary to evaluate the efficiency and safety of molecular hydrogen inhalation for a variety of diseases.
Hydrogen water
Hydrogen is an important element of the human body, as it forms most of the water in our cells. There are also other substances that humans consumer, such as carbohydrates (sugar and starch), fat and proteins. Hydrogen has many functions in the body, including supporting organisms and reducing oxidative stress and inflammation. Molecular hydrogen is a colorless, odorless gas that can pass through the blood-brain barrier and enter cells. Human cells can produce molecular hydrogen through enzymatic reactions, but it is also produced in small amounts in the body of certain bacteria.
Due to its unique antioxidant properties, hydrogen has a powerful effect on the human body. Molecular hydrogen can selectively remove harmful free radicals from the body, leaving usefully alone.
In a study, people who drank hydrogen -rich water showed reduced oxidative damage to cellular structures in the liver and kidneys. They also had improved quality of life compared to those who drank plain water. Another study with colon cancer patients who underwent chemotherapy found that drinking hydrogen -rich water reduced radiation -induced liver damage. The treatment helped these patients feel better, and it did not disturb their chemotherapy regimen.
Other studies have shown that drinking hydrogen -rich water can improve risk factors for metabolic syndrome, such as high triglyceride levels and belly fat. It has also been shown to improve exercise performance and reduce inflammation of the brain.
Molecular hydrogen can inhibit the activation of pro -inflammatory molecules and reduce the production of reactive oxygen species, which can cause damage to lipids, proteins and mitochondrial DNA. It can also suppress apoptosis and prevent oxidative damage to the immune system.
Acute diseases and chronic disease can be prevented or treated with hydrogen -rich water, which can help the body regulate and balance the oxidative stress level. It can also relieve neuropathic pain caused by spinal cord injury and relieve sepsis-induced acute lung damage.
In a double-blind placebo-controlled study, researchers found that people who drank 1.5 liters of H2 water for four weeks showed a greater increase in serum biological antioxidant capacity than those who drank plain water. This is because molecular hydrogen can directly affect the cellular redox status. This finding suggests that molecular hydrogen is a promising therapy for aging -related conditions.
