Benefits and features of the Eldoncard® Doctors Kit
-
Simple and effective blood type detection: Eldoncard® uses an immunological method to identify antigens on the surface of red blood cells. The test only requires a small drop of blood from the finger, and the results can be read quickly and easily using the supplied reagent fields.
-
User-friendly and self-explanatory test: With the Eldoncard® Doctors Kit, you need neither specialized laboratory equipment nor technical expertise to carry out blood typing. The simple process makes it readily available to anyone who needs this information, including those who work in demanding environments where quick access to blood type can be essential.
-
Fully equipped set of 10 tests: The kit comes with all the necessary equipment to perform 10 blood typing tests, including a sterile blood typing card, laminating foil, lancet, cleaning wipe, pipette, comb for blood droplet transfer, as well as a result table and instructions in Danish. This makes it easy to carry out the test and keep the result in your wallet or purse for easy access.
-
Long history and global use: Eldoncard® is a Danish innovation from 1954, and has been in use globally since 1959. Eldoncard® is approved by the FDA and is used by medical institutions, blood banks, hospitals and NATO. The test set meets the strict requirements set by the Paul-Ehrlich-Institute in Germany.
How does Eldoncard® work?
The Eldoncard® Doctors Kit uses antibodies applied to four reagent strips: Anti-A, Anti-B, Anti-D (RhD), and a control strip. When a drop of blood is applied to each field, any antigens will react with the antibodies and create agglutination (clumping), which makes it easy to determine the blood type. The reaction is observed visually, and the pattern that occurs on the card gives the user an accurate indication of their blood type and RhD status.
Instructions for use:
- Prepare the card by filling in personal information on Eldoncard®.
- Apply water on each of the four reagent fields.
- Take a blood test using the supplied lancet and transfer a drop of blood to each field with the EldonStick.
- Stir gently in each field for 10 seconds to mix the blood with the reagents.
- Read the results by observing the agglutination and noting the blood type on the card. The blood type card can be laminated and stored in the bag.
Security and storage
The Eldoncard® Doctors Kit is intended for single use and should be kept out of the reach of children. Each test kit is sterile and individually wrapped to ensure safe use. The results of the test must not be used as a basis for medical decisions without further confirmation from healthcare personnel. The test cards can be stored at temperatures between 5-37°C and have a shelf life of up to two years when stored correctly.
Conclusion
The Eldoncard® Doctors Kit provides a reliable, easy-to-use and quick method of determining blood type, which can be critical for medical situations, first aid and personal safety. With its long history and global use, the Eldoncard® is a valuable tool for healthcare professionals and private individuals who wish to have access to blood type information.
