Prenatal Advantage – multivitamin and nutrient supplement for pregnant and breastfeeding women

Prenatal Advantage is a dietary supplement developed for women who are planning a pregnancy, are pregnant or breastfeeding. The product contains a combination of vitamins, minerals and selected nutrients such as DHA (omega-3), choline, lutein and zeaxanthin. The formulation has been developed to contribute to a sufficient intake of important micronutrients in periods where the need may be increased. The product contains bioactive forms of several vitamins, including folate in the form of 5-MTHF, and is supplied in soft capsules.

Several of the nutrients in the product have approved health claims in the EU. Folate contributes to tissue growth in pregnant women. DHA contributes to the normal development of the brain and eyes in fetuses and infants who are breastfed with a daily intake of at least 200 mg of DHA in addition to the recommended daily intake of omega-3 fatty acids. Iron contributes to the normal formation of red blood cells and hemoglobin as well as to normal oxygen transport in the body. Vitamins C, D, zinc and selenium contribute to the normal function of the immune system. Several vitamins and minerals in the formulation also contribute to normal energy metabolism and to protecting the cells against oxidative stress.
