Understand the benefits of earthing and the grounding sheet - ground contact in practice
Earthing, also known as grounding or ground contact, is about bringing the body into direct electrical contact with the earth's natural electrical potential. This is not a new concept, but rather a return to a state in which man has lived throughout most of his evolution. Before modern buildings, insulating shoes and synthetic materials, the body was continuously connected to the ground through walking, resting and sleeping on natural surfaces.
In today's society, this contact is largely broken. Many people are only in direct contact with the ground a few weeks a year, typically in the summer. The grounding sheet and other grounding products have been developed to make it possible to restore ground contact indoors, especially during sleep, when the body is at rest and recovering.
Why ground contact can be important
The body is a bioelectrical system. Nerve signals, muscle contractions, cell communication and many biochemical processes are directly or indirectly dependent on electrical charges and voltage differences. When the body is isolated from earth, a form of electrical imbalance can occur, particularly in environments with a lot of artificial electromagnetic activity.
Grounding is described in the trade literature as a way of giving the body a stable electrical reference, similar to how electrical equipment is grounded to function optimally and safely. When the body is connected to the earth's potential, excess voltage can be compensated, and the electrical environment in the body is stabilized.
Earthing and sleep
Sleep is one of the areas where many report the clearest effect of grounding. Several studies and observations have shown that people who sleep grounded often experience faster falling asleep, fewer awakenings and deeper sleep. An explanation that is often put forward is that grounding can affect the regulation of stress hormones and the autonomic nervous system, so that the body more easily enters a recovery phase.
Using the grounding sheet makes it possible to be in continuous ground contact for many hours every night, without having to change daily routines. This is one of the main reasons why the earthing sheet is considered the most effective and practical form of earthing indoors.

Pain, stiffness and recovery
A significant proportion of users report reduced muscle stiffness, less joint pain and better recovery with regular grounding. In the research literature, this is often linked to inflammatory processes and oxidative stress. Inflammation involves increased production of free radicals, which are electrically unstable molecules.
A central hypothesis in the earthing field is that electrons from the ground can help to neutralize free radicals and thus reduce inflammation-related processes. This mechanism is still the subject of research, but is supported by both laboratory measurements and clinical observations.
Blood circulation and oxygen distribution
Some studies have shown that grounding can affect the electrical properties of the blood, including by reducing the aggregation of red blood cells. When red blood cells clump together, microcirculation can be reduced. Better flow in the blood can in theory contribute to more efficient oxygen distribution and better transport of nutrients to tissues.
These findings do not mean that grounding is a treatment for illness, but they do provide a possible biophysical framework for understanding why many people experience increased well-being and recovery.
What is a ground sheet
An earthing sheet is a textile that contains conductive materials, usually silver wires, and which is connected to earth. When the body is in contact with the sheet, contact with the ground is achieved in the same way as by being barefoot outside. The sheet is either connected to an earthed socket or to an earth spike.
Uno Vita offers, among other things, classic grounding sheets in cotton with silver thread, as well as newer solutions with a higher proportion of silver. An example of the classic grounding sheet can be found here:

The difference between classic and advanced grounding sheets
Classic grounding sheets usually contain around 3 percent silver wire and require direct skin contact for optimal effect. They have been used in many of the published studies on earthing and provide good function, but must be washed and maintained correctly to preserve conductivity.
More advanced grounding materials, often referred to as Evolution solutions, contain a significantly higher proportion of silver, usually around 50 per cent. With such high conductivity, direct skin contact is not always necessary, as the body's natural moisture is sufficient to maintain contact with the ground through an ordinary cotton sheet. This provides increased comfort, better hygiene and a longer lifespan.
Grounding mats as an alternative or supplement
For people who sit a lot in front of a computer or want ground contact during the day, grounding mats can be a good supplement. These are often used under the feet or on the desk and provide continuous contact with the ground while working. An example of an earthing mat can be found here:

Safe use in Norwegian homes
Grounding products must always be connected to ground, not to live parts. Products supplied by Uno Vita are adapted to Norwegian and European conditions and use grounded EU contacts with built-in safety resistance. This makes use safe with correct installation.
In modern homes with electrical systems installed by an authorized electrician after the mid-1990s, the earth connection is normally tested and good. If you are unsure about the electrical system, or want a completely separate earth connection, earth spikes can be an alternative.
Earthing as part of a holistic lifestyle
Earthing is not intended to replace medical treatment or professional health care. It is a biophysical principle that can be included as part of a holistic lifestyle along with adequate sleep, good water, daylight, movement and reduced exposure to unnecessary electrical noise.
For healthy people, grounding is often described as a preventive measure, while people with stress or pain may experience more obvious changes over time. The effect can come quickly for some and gradually for others.
