Liquid Molybdenum - Liquid molybdenum from the Allergy Research Group
Liquid Molybdenum from Allergy Research Group is an advanced liquid dietary supplement with molybdenum in the form of ammonium molybdate. Molybdenum is an essential trace mineral involved in a number of enzymatic processes, including detoxification, sulfur metabolism and the breakdown of purines and aldehydes. Each drop contains 25 µg of molybdenum, and the liquid form allows for precise and flexible dosing. The product has been specially developed for people who want an easily absorbable form of molybdenum to support the body's natural functions.
Health benefits
Molybdenum is essential for several biological processes and plays an important role in the body's enzymatic systems:
-
Detoxification and sulfite metabolism: As a cofactor for sulfite oxidase, molybdenum helps convert sulphites into harmless sulphates. This protects the body against the potentially harmful effects of sulphites, which are found in preservatives and some foods.
-
Metabolism of amino acids: Supports the breakdown of sulfur-containing amino acids such as methionine and cysteine. These amino acids are necessary to maintain cellular health and reduce oxidative stress.
-
Purines and pyrimidines: Through the enzyme xanthine oxidase Molybdenum contributes to the breakdown of purines into uric acid, an important process for waste management and metabolic balance.
-
Support for the liver and metabolism: Enzymes which aldehyde oxidase and mARC (mitochondrial amidoxime reducing component) uses molybdenum to break down toxic aldehydes and certain medicinal compounds. This makes molybdenum an important factor for detoxification and drug metabolism.
-
Energy and enzyme function: Molybdenum supports energy metabolism by activating enzymes that release energy from nutrients.
-
Protects cells from toxins: Helps to neutralize harmful compounds, which is essential for the body's natural detoxification process.
-
Role in redox balance: Can help maintain the balance between antioxidants and free radicals, which reduces oxidative stress.
Synergies and antagonism with other minerals
Molybdenum has both synergistic and antagonistic interactions with other minerals and metals, which affects how it functions in the body.
-
Synergies:
- Sulphur: Molybdenum is a necessary cofactor for sulfite oxidase, an enzyme that converts sulfites to sulfates, which is essential for sulfur metabolism.
- Iron: Molybdenum can support iron metabolism by promoting enzymatic processes that contribute to iron uptake and utilization.
-
Copper: Although molybdenum and copper can compete for uptake, they also interact in some enzymatic reactions.
-
Antagonism:
- Copper: High levels of molybdenum can reduce copper absorption in the body, which can be used therapeutically in copper poisoning, but can also lead to copper deficiency if excessive intake.
- Heavy metals: Molybdenum can contribute to the detoxification of heavy metals such as lead and mercury by supporting enzymatic processes that aid in the elimination of these toxins.
Molybdenum deficiency and toxicity
-
Deficiency: Although molybdenum deficiency is rare, it can occur in specific situations, such as long-term intravenous nutrition without molybdenum supplementation. Symptoms may include sulfite sensitivity, neurological problems, and metabolic imbalances.
-
Overdose: Excessive intake of molybdenum can lead to increased levels of uric acid, which can result in gout-like symptoms.
Technical specifications
- Main ingredient: Molybdenum (as ammonium molybdate)
- Concentration: 25 µg molybdenum per drop
- Other ingredients: Deionized water, lactic acid, citric acid, potassium sorbate, benzyl alcohol
- Bottle contents: Approx. 200 servings per bottle
- Recommended dosage: 1–3 drops once or twice a day, or as recommended by a healthcare professional
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, tightly closed
- Allergens: Contains no known allergens
The product contains preservatives such as potassium sorbate and benzyl alcohol to prevent the growth of yeast, mold and bacteria. These work optimally in low pH, and therefore are citric acid and lactic acid added. The conservation level is low (0.1%–0.2%), and the molybdenum concentration remains stable at 25 µg per drop.
