Cintropur Activated Carbon 3.4 liters is a coconut-based, granulated activated carbon for Cintropur CTN cartridges and TE units. It has been developed to reduce chlorine, odour, taste and selected organic micropollutants in water, while providing a low pressure drop and high flow rate. The bag contains 3.4 liters of granules and corresponds approximately to 6 refills for NW 25 CTN, 3 refills for NW 280 CTN, 2 refills for NW 32 TE and 1 refill for NW 500 TE.

This filter media is made of coconut shell-based GAC, a widely used solution in water treatment because the porous microstructure provides a large internal surface for adsorption. Compared to simple taste and odor filters for point use, this is intended for Cintropur systems for homes, cottages, agriculture and industry, where stable water flow and easy service are important. Cintropur's filter geometry contributes to a good contact time between water and coal, and a lower water velocity can often give a better effect because the EBCT increases.

  • Reduces taste and odor from residual chlorine, ozone and organic compounds
  • Can contribute to the reduction of selected VOCs, THMs, pesticides, herbicides and some PFAS components, depending on water quality and contact time
  • Preserves the water's mineral balance and does not normally affect the pH to a significant extent
  • Provides low pressure drop and high capacity for whole house filtration when pre-filter is installed
  • Supplied in a 3.4 liter PMD recyclable bag for easy refilling and less waste
  • Suitable for reusable CTN cartridges and Cintropur series TE units

In practice, this is well suited for mains water with a chlorine taste, well water with an unwanted smell or rainwater systems where pre-filtration is already in place. Compared to filter solutions that only capture particles, activated carbon works by adsorption of dissolved substances. This means that this does not replace mechanical filtration, but should be used after a sleeve or filter cloth pre-filter, typically 100 to 25 μm or finer if necessary. If microbiological quality is uncertain, UV disinfection should be placed last in the line, for example in a Cintropur DUO or TRIO setup.

For safe and stable operation, the granules must be rinsed until the water is clear before starting. In normal household use, the recommended replacement interval is often 3 to 6 months, but the actual lifespan depends on raw water quality, turbidity, TOC, iron, manganese, consumption and flow. Container or CTN cartridge should be cleaned at each media change, and the system must always be depressurized during service. This makes maintenance easy, while the reusable cartridge reduces ongoing waste compared to disposable filters.

An important point is that activated carbon is mainly used for taste, smell and adsorbable chemical compounds. It does not disinfect the water. Water is only considered drinking water when both chemical and microbiological requirements are met. This type of GAC solution is based on principles used in recognized water treatment and is referred to in standards and references such as WHO, U.S. EPA, AWWA and NSF/ANSI 42, 53 and 401 for aesthetic and specific reduction effects. For those who want a practical refill solution for Cintropur, this is a precise choice with documentable areas of use, high compatibility and easy integration into existing water purification.
