Preparations for your assessment appointment at the Clinic for Integrative Medicine
What is integrative medicine?
Integrative medicine combines conventional medicine with complementary/alternative medicine to provide a holistic approach to health. At our clinic, we use methods that are scientifically documented with regard to both safety and effectiveness. The Clinic for Integrative Medicine uses modern, medical CE-approved electro-medical devices that promote the body's natural healing processes. The assessments we perform aim to identify underlying causes of health problems, and we view the body from a holistic perspective. It is crucial to find the source of imbalances (e.g. low cell potential) in order to initiate effective treatment.
How can you get the most out of your assessment appointment?
Some clients spend a lot of time and energy during the assessment talking about the past or going into technical details. This can prevent you from getting the full benefit of the assessments. Instead, focus on the present – we will ask you if we need additional information. Remember that we as practitioners need the technical details in order to give you the best possible treatment and recommendations, and you will receive the summary toward the end of the appointment. Sit back and receive – the future starts here!
What does the assessment appointment involve?
An assessment appointment usually lasts 2–3 hours and often includes five different assessments, two trial treatments, an introductory diet, and suggestions for dietary supplements. We also recommend electro-medical treatment that may help strengthen the body's electrical potential, which often leads to faster improvement.
How should you prepare for the assessment appointment?
To obtain the most accurate assessment results, there are a few things you should keep in mind:
- Avoid heavy physical strain or intense exercise during the last 48 hours before the appointment.
- If possible, avoid taking medications that affect the nervous system, hormonal balance, pulse, or blood pressure (consult your doctor if you are unsure).
- Dietary supplements are fine, but avoid coffee and adaptogens on the same day.
- Feel free to eat breakfast, but allow at least two hours before you arrive, and drink plenty of water.
- Before the appointment, you will fill out some forms, which may take up to 30 minutes.
Prepare your body for the assessments
We measure, among other things, electrical activity in the body, HRV (heart rate variability), and levels of heavy metals and minerals in the cells. To ensure accurate measurements, trim your fingernails, wash your hands and feet thoroughly, and avoid creams on your hands and forearms on the day of treatment. We must wait 15 minutes after the last hand wash before the measurements can begin.
