Enzymedica GlutenEase® Extra Strength is a concentrated enzyme mixture developed for use with meals containing gluten, casein, other proteins and carbohydrates. The formula combines protease, DPP-IV, amylase and glucoamylase in one convenient capsule.

Each capsule provides 150,000 HUT protease activity, 1,000 DPP-IV, 15,000 DU amylase activity and 15 AGU glucoamylase activity. The enzyme activity is stated in recognized activity units, which describe the enzymes' activity rather than just the weight of the ingredients.

The product is intended for adults who want a targeted enzyme supplement at meals that may contain gluten or the milk protein casein. The capsules are vegan, kosher certified and made without gluten, milk, soy, wheat, artificial colors, artificial flavors or fillers.

Important: GlutenEase® Extra Strength does not make gluten-containing foods safe for people with celiac disease, wheat allergy or severe gluten-related disease. The product should not be used as a substitute for a medically necessary gluten-free diet.

This is how the enzyme mixture works

Enzymes are proteins that catalyze certain chemical reactions. Digestive enzymes participate, among other things, in the splitting of proteins and carbohydrates into smaller components.

GlutenEase® Extra Strength combines four types of enzyme activity:

Protease Thera-blend® G2

Proteases catalyze the cleavage of proteins and peptides. Thera-blend® is Enzymedica's own mixture of proteases with different activity properties.

DPP-IV – dipeptidyl peptidase IV

DPP-IV is a type of proteolytic enzyme activity that can cleave certain peptide bonds in proteins, including peptide structures that can occur in gluten and casein. However, the product does not remove all gluten from the food and does not make the food gluten-free.

Amylase Thera-blend®

Amylase catalyzes the breakdown of starch and other complex carbohydrates into smaller carbohydrate compounds.

Glucoamylase

Glucoamylase acts on starch-related compounds and releases smaller sugar units from the carbohydrate chains.

Enzyme activity is affected by, among other things, the type of food, the amount of food, contact time, temperature and pH. The individual experience may therefore vary.

What do the enzyme units mean?

• HUT indicates protease activity against protein under standardized test conditions.
• DPP-IV indicates the measured activity of dipeptidyl peptidase IV.
• YOU indicate the amylase's activity when breaking down starch.
• AGU indicates the enzyme activity of glucoamylase.

The activity units describe how active the enzymes are under specific laboratory conditions. They are not the same as milligrams and cannot be directly compared between different enzyme types.

Important about celiac disease, allergies and gluten-free diet

GlutenEase® Extra Strength is not a treatment for celiac disease and should not replace a strict gluten-free diet. Enzyme supplements cannot guarantee complete breakdown of gluten or protect against damage from gluten exposure.
