Cintropur TRIO-UV 6100 (60 W) – comprehensive water treatment with pre-filter, activated charcoal and UVC disinfection

Cintropur TRIO-UV 6100 is a professional 3-in-1 solution for homes, farms and smaller commercial buildings that want stable, pleasant and hygienically safer water quality from rainwater, wells/boreholes or as an additional barrier in the municipal network. The system combines cyclonic mechanical pre-filtration (particles), refillable container for coconut-based activated carbon (taste/odor and selected dissolved organics) and UVC disinfection at 253.7 nm (60 W amalgam) in one compact, service-friendly unit. The treatment is 100% physical - without chemicals and without changing the water's natural properties.

Health effects
• 🔒 100% physical disinfection with UVC can help to give the water a hygienic barrier against bacteria, viruses and protozoa, without the formation of chemical by-products.
• 👃 Activated charcoal improves taste and smell, and can reduce chlorine, ozone and a number of dissolved organic compounds in the water.
• 🌫️ Cyclonic pre-filter and fine filter sleeve remove particles (sand, rust, soil) and provide clearer, more inviting water.
• 💧 Robust operation in a range of raw water sources (rain, well/borehole, lightly treated surface water) when the water is filtered and fed particle-free to the UV reactor.
• ♻️ Low maintenance requirements and reusable components (CTN carbon container and replaceable filter sleeves) can reduce consumption and waste.

Top features
• High capacity for housing and light industry: Nominal up to 3.5 m³/hour at 25 mJ/cm² UV dose (assuming good UV transmittance and pre-filtered water).
• Service-friendly professional design: Bayonet socket (~5° twist) for quick lamp service, integrated hour counter and lamp alarm (IP65 electronics) as well as flow limiter for even irradiation.

A lesser known benefit
The amalgam UV lamp provides a stable radiation effect over a long period of time (up to approx. 18,000 operating hours), withstands temperature fluctuations better than traditional low-pressure Hg lamps and is typically replaced every 2 years during continuous operation.

Areas of use
Suitable as a "point-of-entry" in detached houses and larger households, smaller multi-dwelling buildings, cottage fields with high drainage, HORECA outlets (kitchens, water stations), cultural and sports buildings, small farms (livestock water) and technical installations. The TRIO architecture is particularly suitable for rainwater and well water where particle and organic loads vary.

This is how the system works – treatment line
The water is first put into rotation in the pre-filter, so that heavier particles precipitate to the bowl. It then passes through a sleeve (standard 25 µm, can be changed to finer) which removes finer particles. In stage two, the water is passed through a reusable CTN container filled with high-quality coconut-based activated carbon that adsorbs odor/taste, chlorine/ozone and selected organic compounds (the effect increases with longer contact time and appropriate speed). Finally, the water is irradiated in the UVC reactor (253.7 nm) where microorganisms are physically inactivated. The achieved UV dose is affected by lamp power, contact time/flow and the water's optical clarity (UV transmittance).

Performance, dimensioning and raw water
To achieve a good UV dose, the water must be clear (low turbidity, high UV transmittance – typically ≥ 90% at 1 cm). In the case of coloured/turbid water (humus, humic substances, iron/manganese or biofilm), the flow should be reduced, pre-treatment improved (e.g. finer filter sleeve, sedimentation/pre-separation before tank), and activated charcoal changed more often. Activated charcoal can also help reduce certain PFAS compounds, pesticides/herbicides and micro-organisms; real effect depends on charcoal type, dose/contact time and water chemistry. For rainwater, good roof separation, a leaf/grid filter and regular draining of the bottom chamber are recommended.

Technical details and specifications
• UVC lamp: 60 W amalgam, 253.7 nm. Recommended change interval: approx. every 2 years (up to ~18,000 h).
• Quarzhylse: Recommended change every 5 years; cleaned by coating.
• Connections: 1″ (in/out), external thread.
• Nominal max. flow rate: up to approx. 3.5 m³/hour at 25 mJ/cm² (at ΔP ≈ 0.8 bar and clear water).
• Permitted working pressure: 16 bar.
• Max. medium temperature: 50 °C.
• Electrical: 230 V / 50 Hz, typical 60 W consumption (standard plug).
• Electronics: IP65 enclosure for ballast/hour meter with lamp end-of-life alarm.
• Weight: approx. 10.7 kg.
• Approx. dimensions (L×H×D/built-in): 665 mm × 553 mm × 162 mm; reactor height approx. 527 mm.
• Materials: Certified synthetic plastic suitable for drinking water in wet areas; sealing with O-rings.
• Prefilter: Cyclone + sleeve (available 1–300 µm; standard 25 µm in TRIO delivery).
• Activated charcoal: Coconut-based, high porosity; reusable CTN container for easy refilling.
• Placement in line: UV reactor must always be last in the treatment line.

Installation, operation and security
Place the unit easily accessible, with shut-off valves, bypass and pressure relief. Follow electrical requirements and grounding routines. UVC light must never be exposed directly to the skin/eyes (the reactor is closed during operation). Use original lamps/quartz and change at the recommended interval. Mercury-containing light sources are delivered to an approved reception. Feel free to take annual microbiological analyses; drinking water can only be considered safe when both microbiological and chemical parameters satisfy the current regulations.

Maintenance recommendations
• Lamp: Every 24 months (or according to hour counter/notification).
• Quarzhylse: Every 5 years (clean if necessary).
• Activated carbon (CTN): Normally 2–4 times per year, depending on consumption and raw water (more often due to smell/colour).
• Filter sleeve: According to raw water quality/pressure loss (25 µm as standard; can be changed to finer if required).
• For rain/well water: Empty the bottom chamber regularly; check pre-filter after precipitation peaks.
