Liver-Screen® is a CE-marked home test for liver function that measures elevated transaminases, ALT and AST, in a drop of capillary blood from the finger. The test gives an answer in 10 minutes and shows whether the level is above the limit value of 80 IU/L. With 89.2% correlation against laboratory standards, CE-IVD approval and production according to ISO 13485, this is a practical screening tool for early indication of liver stress at home or in professional use.

Compared to waiting for a doctor's appointment and a laboratory test, this rapid test provides a quick initial clarification of symptoms or of known risk factors. The test does not replace a medical diagnosis, but can be useful if you want to monitor liver values in case of alcohol use, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, use of liver-taxing drugs or after periods of high physical strain. Elevated ALT and AST values can also be seen after intense exercise, which makes the test relevant in the context of biohacking, metabolic health and general health monitoring.

  • Measures ALT and AST in finger blood with a cut-off of 80 IU/L
  • Reading time of 10 minutes with clear blue control line and red test lines
  • CE-IVD approved and manufactured according to ISO 13485
  • Suitable as an early screening for fatigue, loss of appetite, dark urine, bloating or yellowing of the skin and eyes
  • Relevant for risk factors such as alcohol, obesity, diabetes, hypertension and medication use
  • Can be used at home or in a professional setting with a simple step-by-step procedure

The liver plays a central role in detoxification, energy metabolism and protein synthesis. When liver cells are under stress or affected by disease, alcohol or other stresses, the enzymes ALT and AST can be released into the blood. This test uses an immunochromatographic lateral flow method with specific antibodies calibrated against the IFCC method to identify elevated levels. The result is shown as one or two red lines in the T-zone together with a blue control line in the C-zone. The color intensity does not affect the interpretation as long as the lines are clear and complete.

The test is suitable for adults who want a discreet and quick assessment of liver-related stress. Typical situations of use may be persistent fatigue, reduced appetite, weakness, dark urine, pale stools or after periods of high alcohol intake. It can also be relevant as a routine check for people who monitor metabolic health, weight development or response to lifestyle changes. A positive result means that ALT and or AST are above 80 IU/L, and that a doctor should be contacted for further investigation with tests such as bilirubin, ALP, GGT and LDH. A negative result does not rule out disease.

The use is simple: prepare the test cassette, pipette and buffer, clean the fingertip, collect a drop of blood with the lancet and draw blood up to the mark without squeezing. Transfer the blood to the test well, wait 30 to 40 seconds, add 4 drops of buffer at 2 to 3 second intervals, and read after 10 minutes, no later than 15 minutes. For reliable results, the test should be stored dry at 4 to 30 °C and used according to the instructions for use.

Liver-Screen® is a medical IVD screening tool and not a treatment or cure. Pregnant, breastfeeding women and people with known medical conditions should consult a doctor before use. In the event of a positive result, persistent symptoms or clinical suspicion, medical follow-up is always necessary. This makes the test a useful first step for early detection, but not a substitute for clinical assessment.
