CRP-Screen ®
CRP-Screen ® has been reordered and will be shipped as soon as it is back in stock.
CRP-Screen is a CE-marked rapid test for home use that measures C-reactive protein (CRP) in capillary blood from a finger prick. The test gives a semi-quantitative answer in approximately 5 minutes and has been developed as a practical screening tool for suspected infection or inflammation. Compared to waiting for ordinary sampling, this test can give a quick first indication at home, but it does not replace medical assessment, diagnosis or treatment.
- Measures CRP in whole blood from a finger prick with results after approx. 5 minutes
- Semi-quantitative reading in intervals: low below 8 mg/L, moderate 8 to 40 mg/L, high 40 to 100 mg/L and very high above 100 mg/L
- CE-marked in vitro immunodiagnostic rapid test for private use
- User-friendly lateral flow test with test cassette, plastic pipette, diluent and sterile lancet
- Can be used as support before contact with a doctor in case of fever, flu-like sensation, headache or suspected inflammation
- Adapted WHO reference values for CRP interpretation
CRP is an acute-phase protein that is mainly produced in the liver and can rise in bacterial infections and inflammatory conditions. The test does not show what is the cause of elevated CRP, but it can provide useful information about the body's immune response. In contrast to general symptom assessments alone, this self-test gives a measurable result that can be useful in dialogue with healthcare personnel, especially when you want a quick assessment of whether symptoms should be followed up.
The result is read via colored lines in the test window. The control line confirms that the test has been carried out correctly. Absence of T-line corresponds to low CRP below 8 mg/L. Three lines with weak T-line corresponds to moderate level from 8 to 40 mg/L. Three clear lines correspond to high levels from 40 to 100 mg/L. At very high CRP above 100 mg/L, the color lines become strong, and the middle line may disappear. The result must be read after 5 minutes and not interpreted after 10 minutes.
CRP-Screen is suitable for adults and families who want to examine CRP at home in the event of, for example, fever, sore throat, cold symptoms, flu-like symptoms or general illness. It can also be relevant for weekend assessments, when traveling or when a quick health check is desired before possibly contacting a doctor. Compared to tests that only give yes or no answers, this solution provides a more nuanced assessment of the level of reaction in the body.
Each package usually contains a test cassette in a sealed bag, a plastic pipette for blood sampling, a diluent in a dropper bottle, a sterile lancet and instructions for use with illustrated steps. Brief instructions for use: wash and disinfect the fingertip, make a finger prick, collect a drop of blood in the pipette, add the blood to the sample well and then 4 drops of diluent. The test is intended for single use and must be stored dry in the original packaging at the recommended temperature indicated on the packaging.
The product is manufactured by Swiss Point of Care and distributed in Norway by Uno Vita AS, Moss. Self-tests are used at your own risk. In case of persistent symptoms, high CRP, acute illness or a positive finding, a doctor should be contacted for assessment. The product information is intended as general guidance and should not be used as the sole basis for medical decisions.
